What Have We Been Up To?

Application forms can be daunting when we are expected to fill one out for every job we apply for. There can be a lot to read and provide answers for depending on the level of detail the form requires. It can be a bit confusing to know not only what to write but how much to note down too.

In our April workshop we looked at the purpose of an application form and job description. This involved deep diving into a job description to understand why a company gives you this information and what they are looking to see on your application.

We also had a look at typical scoring systems employers use when looking over your application form and how they decide which candidates to invite for an interview. In addition to this we looked at what the STARR format is and how it can help you achieve an interview outcome!

In our May workshop we looked at mental and physical wellbeing and had a discussion on why they go hand in hand. We looked at techniques for checking in on our wellbeing and how this can influence our employment journeys.

Our June workshop is coming up on Monday 26th May where we will be looking at having some fun and improving our overall fitness. We have partnered with Kingswood Leisure Centre who will be delivering an hour-long high intensity interval training session for us. Exercise is a great way to improve your body and your mind, so if you are interested in joining us sign up to Works4Youth today!
